Have you ever listened to a song, like really listen to the lyrics and the melody; and it immediately reminded you of a book you’ve read before? Well, here’s a playlists that consists of 5 books that each correlate to 5 songs you may like. I believe each song truly represents the purpose and meaning of the book.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Song: "Love in the Dark” by Adele

This book is just so UGHH I need it injected into my bloodstream. “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” really grips the concept of ‘soulmates’ and true but forbidden love. The song “Love in the Dark” expresses the same emotions that this book will put you through. The yearning and heartache throughout this book left my pages soggy. TJR creates a powerful and independent FMC and incorporates valuable notions about life and love. Where LGBTQ+ meets the 80’s Hollywood, this book will leave you staring at a wall with tears streaming down your face. It is poetic in a way and allows you to understand different concepts of love, friendship and fighting for what you want. This book is written beautifully and will always have a special place in my heart.

Fearless by Lauren Roberts

Song: “Ordinary” by Alex Warren

The fourth installment to the ‘Powerless’ series by Lauren Roberts, is in fact an emotional roller coaster as you venture all of Ilya and the Powerless world. The song “Ordinary” by Alex Warren is truly the epitome of this song, down to the lyrics, the title, the meaning, purpose and the romance in this book. The hype is definitely worth it because my-oh-my the dialogue in this book, specifically Kai Azer’s is ethereal and incredibly sweet and will leave your standards impossible to reach (it sure did with mine). Reading this book left me thrilled and on the edge of my seat and crying the next minute. The plot twists will leave you wild. It is definitely a must-read YA Romantasy.

As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson

Song: “no body, no crime” by Taylor Swift

The third installment to ‘A Good Girls Guide to Murder’ series, leaves me with no words to describe how brilliant this book is. It is full of suspense, mystery and horror. I went to sleep having dreams about the events that occurred in this book, it was bone-chilling, thrilling, intense and I was always excited to flip to the next page, determined to find out and solve the book’s mysteries myself. Jackson creates characters that you grow to care for, with an incredibly intelligent FMC and her partner in crime (pun intended) and their indisputable bond. This book is as humorous as it is mysterious, it might have you giggling at every page, and an ending that will have your jaw stuck to the floor. The song “no body, no crime” by Taylor Swift perfectly describes this book and its mood!

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

Song: “War of Hearts” by Ruelle

A dystopian world where powers, a totalitarian government, and a girl who has the power to kill with a single touch exist. Reading this book felt like a movie playing out in my head, it was action packed, romantic, comedic all at the same time with characters you fall in love with as much as the plot. The song “War of Hearts” by Ruelle is just as intense as this book! Trust me when I say Aaron Warner will have you melting. If you liked The Hunger Games, this one’s for you.

Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick

Song: “About You” by The 1975

I don’t usually cry over books, but this one sure did the job. A forbidden, secret love between two girls who want to escape the confinements of their hometown together, but right before it happens, a terrible accident occurs and their love is forgotten and now it must be re-earned. Except, it won’t be as easy as the first time. This book is filled with yearning and self-discovery about identity and love and even has a little bit of suspense, the song “About You” by The 1975 expresses the pain of lost love or going through a break up, which is similar to what happens in this book and I think it really shows that love, if it is true, cannot be forgotten no matter the circumstance. “If you remember me, then I don’t care if everyone else forgets.” - Haruki Murakami.
