Fresh off the success of our inaugural Seniors in Melbourne gathering in July, we are inviting everyone back for the first of our specially curated-for-this-audience Meet the Author get together.

Jaye has invited the beloved Melbourne author, Robert Skinner to kick start the series. We feel sure that you will enjoy meeting and dicovering this Melbourne talent and that he will bring a broad grin to your faces as he reads from his book ‘I’d Rather Not’.

Robert is the inaugural John Clarke Prize for humour writing (2025) winner awarded by the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards Committee. The man about town (and the Northern Territory) is a thoughtful raconteur who is “mercifully free of existential angst, amiable and charming and able to make you both commiserate with and laugh at his misfortunes and missteps” (Artshub).

A personal favourite of Jaye’s, Robert will soon become your personal favourite too.

We will meet at our bookshop on String Bean Alley (Queen St end) in the iconic Queen Victoria Market. Tickets are $10/- each and covers the Meet the Author session, light refreshments, 10% discount for books purchased within the session, and a traders discount at Market Espresso cafe.
