Help Support
Indie Bookshops
We have a small favour to ask you…
Right now, Australian Indie bookshops have a once in five year opportunity to put brick and mortar bookshops on the national cultural agenda.
The Australian Government is currently developing a new National Cultural Policy. This is a rare opportunity to shape how government recognises, supports, and protects local bookshops.
The Australian Booksellers Association is working hard at putting meaningful requests to the Government including tax offsets for bookshops and book vouchers for every child starting prep.
With support from readers like you, we can create a groundswell of people letting our government know that bookshops matter and deserve to be heard.
To have your say, here are the 2 simple steps:
Step 1: Get the template here
Personalise the template to let them know why bookshops matter. Save the letter as a .docx or .pdf
Step 2: Submit the form here
Fill in the form. Upload your submission document and press submit.
The deadline is May 24 but please don't wait! Every submission counts.
I sincerely, and firmly believe that collectively we can make a difference.
Thank you for your time and support,
Jaye Chin-Dusting
Owner of Mary Martin Bookshop and Australian Booksellers Association board member.
