Review by Sarah
My brother, who has Down syndrome was told many years ago that his cognitive capacity would always be very limited but he refused to believe that he couldn't grow and learn like anyone else.
In this remarkable book Norman Doidge presents his studies on neuroplasticity where the brain actually learns how to re-wire itself.
Doidge follows people with varying degrees of brain damage and shows that people of limited “intelligence” are able to improve their cognition and even learn to play an instrument just by imagining doing so.
My brother has often wondered why he has advanced when many of his peers have had difficulty, and after reading this book we both agree that his neuroplasticity must be in fine form!
This book is as uplifting and inspiring a book as I have ever read!
